Vegan Goodness At Three Brothers Pizzeria In Long Island
I live about 20 minutes from Long Island and yet I never go. The bridges and the traffic are a pretty big turn off. But now, I have a whole new incentive to venture over there. Three Brothers Pizzeria. They are a regular pizza joint serving the traditional dairy pizzas. But they also have a vegan menu that would make anyone salivate. And it’s not one of those places that has two vegan options and call it a vegan menu. They have everything from fried oyster mushrooms to stuffed shells to specialty pizzas using (of course) daiya cheese. The vegan menu is four pages long.
The picture in the corner is the pizza I got: Backyard BBQ. Description: “Topped with a thin layer of BBQ sauce, grilled tofu, red onions and vegan mozzarella and cheddar cheese drizzled with another layer of BBQ sauce.” My husband got the Eggplant Parmesan. Description: “Topped with tomato sauce, breaded eggplant, vegan ricotta cheese, and topped off with vegan mozzarella.”
The vegan ricotta is made with a cashew cheese. As many of you know, nut cheeses are pretty much amazing. Combine that with daiya cheese and fabulous tasting other ingredients and you have some of the best pizza around.
If you’re heading that way, it’s totally worth stopping for lunch. In fact, it’s worth going there for lunch even if you’re not heading that way. Enjoy!
